Q&A: Has Rails 5 fixed its chat and web sockets problems?

The TLDR is that it's easier than ever to build chat apps in Rails, because that sort of functionality is becoming increasingly important. However, Rails has to pull in external dependencies to do it and it a Ruby back-end is probably never going to be the ideal solution for an app that makes heavy use of web sockets.
